From a list of nearly 30 candidates for the Freshman crew Coach Bert Haines has now picked 27 men, from whose number the final Freshman boat will be selected. At the present time these Freshman oarsmen are divided into three temporary crews, and no definite assignment to the Freshman number one boat will be made until after the Spring Vacation.

Coach Haines is constantly experimenting with this group, not only changing men from one position to another but also shifting the make-up of the three boats. Until recently there were nine crews arranged solely on a basis of suiting the convenience of the oarsmen, but workouts held on Friday and Saturday determined the choice of these 27 men.

The seating for the Saturday workout was as follows: In the first boat: stroke, Arthur Beane '36; 7, S. D. Warren '36; 6, W. W. Gallagher '36; 5, W. A. Smith '36; 4, P. S. Weld '36; 3, G. A. Matteson '36; 2, J. F. Ducey '36 bow, P. H. Thayer '36; cox, W. E. Howell '36.

In the second boat the seating was: stroke, R. S. Wolcott '36; 7, W. S. Burton '36; G. R. D. Kernan '36; 5, H. F. Atherton '36; 4, R. M. Drysdale '36; 3, L. P. Eliel '36; 2, A. C. Cushing '36; bow, C. F. Brown '36; cox, H. K. McVickar '36. The seating in the third crew was; stroke, W. D. Locke '36; 7, L. C. Farley, Jr. 6, R. W. Drury '36; 5, W. W. Prout '36; 4, J. E. Gardener Jr. '36; 3, R. S. Clarke '36; 2, Warren Richards '36; bow, Michael Cudahy '36; cox, A. F. Falk '36.
