The Kirkland basketball team climbed into a two-way tie for top spot in the intramural 'A' basketball league as they drubbed Eliot, 52 to 44. Tom Everhart led the Deacons with 15 points. Winthrop, meanwhile, overcame a 26 to 13 half-time deficit and handed the Bellboys a 40 to 37 loss. The Deacons and Bellboys now sport 6 and 2 records.
Adams broke a seven game losing streak by scoring their first victory of the season in a sudden death 49 to 47 win over Dunster. Joe Connolly came through with the winning score.
In the 'B' basketball league, Kirkland beat the Elephants, 26 to 19, for its eighth straight win. In other games Lowell defeated Winthrop, 36 to 29, and Dunster edged past Adams, 29 to 25.
