Green Forecasts World Federation

Senator Theodore F. Green (D-R.I.) predicted in an interview Saturday that a world federation might eventually come about. On national politics, he praised the presidential qualifications of Truman and Stevenson, but thought Kefauver's qualifications limited and Eisenhower's military background dangerous.

At Harvard to address members of a United Nations mock convention, Green drew a comparison between the federation efforts of the 13 colonies and aims for a united Europe.

"When we point to the result of our union of states, forced into the leadership of the world, with what would have been if the states had stayed apart, the comparison is very effective," he declared.

"We will probably have a world federation some day," Green said. "The world is getting smaller and smaller." He added that this federation "might come about by force."
