Planned Band Concert Tour Falls Through

Band Now Planning '53 Southern Jaunt

For the second successive year, the Band's plans for a spring concert tour have fallen through, Band Manager Dana M. Hastings '53, announced yesterday. The tour would have been scheduled for spring vacation, March 29 to April 6.

Hastings explained that the Band could not arrange a large enough number of concert dates in the Maryland Washington area to make the week-long trip profitable. Band members had been working on plans for the jaunt since last September but were able to line up only four of the six necessary stops.

"We have definite intentions of finally going on a trip next year," Hastings said, "and a group of bandsmen has already started contacting various Harvard clubs. The only trouble this year was that we didn't start arranging early enough."

He indicated the Maryland Washington area would again probably be the tour's local.

If the trip materializes next year, it will be the first time in several years that the Band has reached any point south of Princeton. In 1950 they managed a weekend jaunt to Albany and Worcester but were not able to undertake a long spring tour last year, since there was little member interest and numerous concerts were already arranged for the local area.
