Defense Provides Offense for Crimson
Senior Ben Smith's versatility on the field perhaps indicates some untapped potential to his game. Whatever the cause of his newfound ability to drive to the goal, it is certainly a harbinger of great things to come for both Smith and the rest of Coach Tillman’s defense.
Comeback Try Falls Just Short
Unfortunately for Harvard, the last few seconds on the clock would wind down without another goal, as the No. 14 Hoyas (1-1) held on to win the game, 13-12.

Sophomore Kevin Vaughan, shown here in earlier action, netted a career-high three goals against the No. 14 Hoyas yesterday afternoon, but it wasn’t enough to prevent the No. 11 Crimson from suffering its first loss on the year. Harvard hopes to rebound at Holy Cross Saturday.

With momentum from the victory, the team will look to continue its winning ways against the Georgetown Hoyas (0-1) tomorrow in Washington, D.C.

Junior Dean Gibbons scored a career-high five goals on just six shots in Harvard’s season-opening win over Canisius. The No. 12 Crimson lived up to expectations in its first game of 2010, looking to nine different players to score in the 16-6 rout. Harvard will face No. 13 Georgetown on Wednesday.
