A collection of old American newspapers, made by Sir Henry Clinton, commander-in-chief of the English forces in this country during the latter years of the Revolution, has been bought from a London bookseller by three friends of Yale College and given to the college library. The files comprise ten volumes of the Pennsylvania Gazette, seven each of the Pennsylvania Packet and Pennsylvania Journal, and two of the Pennsylvania Chronicle. The givers, who pay $500 for this collection, are Professor H. W. Farnam, Captain C. H. Townshend, and J. D. Dewell of New Haven.
