December 4, 1889.

To J. P. Denison, Esq., President of the Lampoon:

MY DEAR SIR.- The editors of the DAILY CRIMSON hereby challenge the editors of the Lampoon to a game of football to be played on Jarvis field, on the afternoon of Saturday, December 7, (provided the ground be not too hard). This challenge has been given with a view to settling by blood if possible, the deadly fend which has existed between the Lampoon and CRIMSON from time immemorial.

An early and favorable reply is looked for.

Believe me, Very sincerely yours, THOMAS W. LAMONT, Secretary CRIMSON.

From the Harvard Lampoon, Cambridge, Dec. 5, 1889.

The editors of the Lampoon return the enclosed MSS. with thanks.
