The Total Abstinence Society held its annual election of officers on Saturday and the following officers were elected: W. C. Damon '92, president; J. B. Lewis '92, vice-president; A. H. Gordon '93, secretary and treasurer. A fair number was present at the meeting.

The annual reports were read and accepted. The pledge was amended to read as follows:

"Membership shall mean total abstinence from the use of any intoxicating liquor as a beverage during the member's connection with the University."

It was the intention originally to have public addresses during the past year. It was found, however, that the college conferences did away with the need of such lectures and the plan was abandoned. The only public address given was by Dr. Lyman Abbott in October. Just what the new administration will do towards increasing the membership cannot now be said, but doubtless every effort will be made to make the society as large as possible. During the past year twenty members were added, and as large a gain is confidently expected next year.
