The Harvard Union will hold a competitive debate for membership, Thursday evening of this week, at 7.30 p. m., in Sever 11. The subject is "Resolved, That the absorption of the Turkish Empire by Russia should not be opposed by other European powers." The debate will be opened on the affirmative by H. E. Addison '96, and on the negative by R. C. Davis '97. This will be the last general competition this year.

On Friday, May 8, there will be a special competition for membership open only to freshmen. The subject will be the same as that chosen for the Yale Harvard freshman debate, "Resolved, That there should be a large and immediate increase in the navy of the United States." All freshmen, and especially members of the Freshman Debating Society are urged to compete.
