In experimenting with his powerful new battery at the Jefferson Laboratory, Professor Trowbridge has recently made a discovery of great interest to doctors and the public in general. In previous experiments with the X-ray, the back of the hand has been placed near the tube, with the result that the skin has been burned off in a painful and dangerous manner. Professor Trowbridge has discovered that the same result is produced by brush discharges in the air. This shows that the burn is due to powerful electrification, and not necessarily to the X-rays.
