A special meeting of the board of overseers was held yesterday forenoon, Hon. E. R. Hoar presiding. It was voted to concur with the president and fellows in the changes regarding degrees; also, in appointing Josiah Royce instructor in philosophy for the current year. The vote of the president and fellows to establish a professorship of veterinary medicine, was laid on the table for future consideration, and the appointment of Henry Jacob Bigelow, M. D., emeritus professor of surgery, in consideration of his many valuable services to the medical school during the past 33 years, was referred to Messrs. Hodges, Parker and R. M. Morse. A vote to confer several honorary degrees was passed in concurrence.
