HARVARD, 6; GRADUATES, 4.

Considering the absence of Rand and the general reversal of positions yesterday, the 'Varsity showed fairly good form, and succeeded in defeating the Graduates by the score of 6 to 4. Harvard took the lead from the first and with the exception of the fourth inning maintained it to the end.

Though but six men were struck out by Rankin, only seven hits were made off his delivery and four of these were scattering. The only time that the 'Varsity batted in any kind of form was in the seventh inning. Burgess singled and stole second; Haughton brought him home on a single and scored in turn on Reid's drive to left field. While running to second on Hayes's fumble, however, Reid over-ran the base and was put out by Dean. The next two batters sent up flies to the infield.

Fitz pitched the first three innings and was doing well when Hayes took his place. Hayes pitched three innings and was found for four hits, up to the seventh inning when Haughton was substituted for him and finished the game. At no time was Harvard's fielding anything brilliant, with the possible exception of a long foul which Robinson managed to reach. For the Graduates, W. Clarkson of the Cambridge High School, who was played in place of Abbott, put up an excellent game at third, making an especially brilliant catch of a long foul in the ninth inning.

The injury sustained by Rand while stealing second in the Brown game has proved more serious than was expected at the time. The knee was so badly wrenched that it has been found necessary to place it in a cast. It is possible that he may not be able to play again this year.
