Five Eights Organized at Each Club.-No Coaches Out.

Yesterday was the first day of organized rowing at the Weld and Newell boat clubs. In addition to a number of singles and pair-oars, five eights were organized at each club. Neither club had a professional coach to direct the rowing, Donovan of the Weld and Vail of the Newell not yet having returned to coaching duties. Both coaches, however, are expected to take up their duties soon.

Following are the orders of the first three crews at the Newell:

First crew-Stroke, Brownell; 7, Morris; 6, Bullard; 5, Platt; 4, Gregg; 3, Swaim; 2, Smith; bow, Merritt; coxswain, Jackson.

Second crew-Stroke, Boardman; 7, Clark; 6, Clifford; 5, Movius; 4, Champollion; 3, Jackson; 2, Stone; bow, Whitridge; coxswain, Shattuck.

Third crew-Stroke, Gray; 7, Letchworth; 6, Brigham; 5, Atwater; 4, Edwards; 3, Hardon; 2, Knight; bow, Williams.

At the Weld the crews were organized by classes. Two Sophomore crews, a Senior and a Junior crew, and a novice eight were formed. The orders follow:

Senior crew-Stroke, Evans; 7, Blake; 6, Burton; 5, Ivins; 4, Loud; 3, Lovejoy; 2, C. W. Locke; bow, Hart; coxswain, Kelley.

Junior crew-Stroke, Bancroft; 7, Colby; 6, Silsbee; 5, Shuebruk; 4, Brooks; 3, Francis; 2, Covel; bow, Barnes; coxswain, Boothby.

Sophomore crew-Stroke, E. B. Roberts; 7, George; 6, Switzer; 5, Bent; 4, Pumpelly; 3, Hartwell; 2, R. Locke; bow, Du Bois; coxswain, Thomas.
