The University of Pennsylvania basketball five defeated the Harvard team in the Gymnasium last night, by the score of 18 to 15. In the first half Harvard scored 12 points, while Pennsylvania scored from the floor but twice and threw one free try. Pennsylvania was kept continually on the defensive and seemed entirely outplayed in passing and shooting. One of the features of the play was the long passing and fast rushed the length of floor by the University team though the effect of these was partly negatived by the inaccuracy of the forwards in the throw for baskets. Bigelow and Gring played a strong defensive game in this half and confined the Pennsylvania forwards to long and difficult throws.

In the second half Harvard kept the same line-up. Pennsylvania changed McCrudden to forward and Hayes went in at centre. The play began slowly on both sides, but Pennsylvania soon took the aggressive and scored four baskets from the floor in quick succession. From this time to the end of play Harvard was kept on the defensive. The forwards, although they played well on the offense, still showed a tendency to neglect their guards when the ball changed hands. Pennsylvania made two long and rather fortunate baskets at this period which gave them a lead they were able to keep until time was called.

The play as a whole was clean and the fouls called were mostly for holding or running with the ball.
