"Engineering" and "Banking"

In addition to the third Union lecture in the series on the professions, to be given in the Living Room next Tuesday by Rev. E. Peabody, on "Teaching," two more lectures have been arranged by the Union management.

On Tuesday, May 23, Mr. G. S. Rice S.'70, chief engineer of the Rapid Transit Commission of New York, will speak on "Engineering," Some time after graduating from the Scientific School Mr. Rice became a member of the Rapid Transit Commission of Boston. After this he became deputy chief engineer of the New York Rapid Transit Commission, and has since then been appointed chief engineer.

On Wednesday, May 31, Mr. F. A. Vanderlip, of New York, will deliver a lecture on "Banking." Mr. Vanderlip in 1897 was appointed assistant Secretary of the Treasury, and is now vice-president of the National City Bank of New York. Lately he has been appointed a trustee of the Carnegie Fund. He has written several books on commercial and financial problems.
