HOLY CROSS WON BASKETBALL

University Team Defeated Last Night by the Score of 20 to 16.

The University basketball team was defeated last night in a closely contested game by Holy Cross, the score being 20 to 16.

Although the teams were very evenly matched the shooting of the Holy Cross men was, on the whole, more accurate. The University team outplayed its opponents in the first half and the score at the end of this period was 10 to 6 in Harvard's favor. Currie excelled during this half and scored two goals on long shots. In the second half the Holy Cross team braced and scored 14 to Harvard's 6 points. They played a harder, faster game during this period and their basket was not often in danger.

The team-work of the University team, both in attack and defence, was a great improvement over that shown in the game with Wesleyan. The weakest point at present seems to be the shooting, which remains very erratic.

The summary:

Score--Harvard, 16; Holy Cross, 20. Goals from floor--Stevens 4, Brooks 3, Barry 3, Currie 2, O'Neil 2, Allen, Almy. Goals from foul--Currie 2, Stevens 2. Fouls called--on Harvard, 5; on Holy Cross, 8. Referee--Velle. Timer--Bird. Time--20-minute halves.
