HANDICAP GAMES SUCCESSFUL

880-Yard Run Creditable Considering Wind.-New Material Shown.

The results of the annual spring handicap games held in the Stadium yesterday afternoon were very satisfactory both from the showing of the new men and from the time made in the events. The track was in fair condition, but a strong wind, which died down as the meet progressed, hindered the sprint men who ran against it.

In the track events, the 880-yard run and the two-mile run were the most interesting performances. In the former event, G. W. Ryley '10 and H. Guild '10, running from scratch, caught up with the other men some of whom had 75 yards handicap until in the last 100 yards they came to Bowles, who was leading. Bowles, however, sprinted and the other two were unable to catch him. The time, one minute 56 4-5 seconds, was slow on account of the wind. In the two-mile race, W. A. Perkins '12 with a 100-yard handicap led during the last five laps. He ran with good judgment and an easy stride. During the last half-mile F. D. Everett '11, who had slowly worked his way to the front, tried to pass Perkins, but with a good burst of speed Perkins drew away and finished about twenty yards ahead of Masten and Ryan who in turn had passed Everest.

In the field events, the broad jump was the best performance, G. N. Phillips '13 with a handicap of 10 inches jumped 22 feet 7 1-2 inches winning from Little who jumped 22 feet 2 inches from scratch.
