Sophomore Competition Starts Two Days Earlier Than Planned.

Candidates for second assistant manager of the University baseball team will be called out on Monday, February 14, immediately after the mid-year period, instead of on Wednesday of that same week as previously announced. Plans for the competition will be outlined at a meeting in the H. A. A. Office on that day at 5 o'clock. Candidates for the Freshman managership positions will be called out two days later, on Wednesday, February 16, the meeting to be held at the H. A. A. Office at 5 o'clock.

The value of the training acquired in a managership competition cannot be too strongly emphasized. Besides giving experience in business methods, such a competition makes one appreciate the value of energy, initiative, courtesy, and tact. This baseball competition, especially, on account of necessary changes in organization and system will give a man plenty of opportunity to receive credit for original constructive work. The routine work for the Second Assistants, which will be divided equally among the candidates, will consist of field work with the University nine, complete charge of the Second team games, including several out of town trips, and office work, including six out of town games. While it will be necessary to devote considerable time to the competition, the variety, of the duties to be performed will make the work pleasant.

No previous experience is necessary for these competitions, and anyone who is not acquainted with the kind of work required may secure complete information of R. H. Stiles '16, Matthews 81, on of G. A. Parsons, '17, Ridgely 61.
