GOETZ TO SPEAK DESPITE POSTPONEMENT OF SMOKER

CLARIFY MILITARY PLANS

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Owing to the postponement of the Freshman smoker scheduled for tonight, Colonel Robert C. F. Goetz, head of the military department at the University, will give a talk, to which all members of the University are invited, in the Common Room of Standish Hall at 7 o'clock this evening. As had been arranged for the Freshman smoker Colonel Goetz will explain the courses of Military Science for the year 1919-20, and speak on other features of the artillery program.

It is understood that Colonel Goetz will make no new announcements concerning the Artillery Unit at the University. His purpose is to make clear all possible misunderstandings and to answer any questions which may have arisen or may arise. The plans as given out were, of necessity, indefinite, and Colonel Goetz feels that by personal explanation he can eliminate some of the misunderstandings that have arisen concerning them.

He had desired especially to address the Freshmen, because it is assumed that more members of this class will be taking the full artillery course than of other classes. Upperclassmen and even graduates, however, are eligible for the courses in military science to be offered in the fall.

Colonel Goetz's departure for France made necessary the calling of tonight's meeting. It is impossible for him to wait over until the Freshman smoker next Tuesday as he is leaving for New York tonight.
