SINGLE POINT WINS FAST GAME FOR R. I. STATE

McLEISH, UNIVERSITY FORWARD, MAKES BRILLIANT SHOTS

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Excitement reigned last evening at Hemenway Gymnasium when the University basketball five was being nosed to defeat by Rhode Island State, in a game full of brilliant playing and thrills. The fifty or more backers of the Rhode Island team, with their cheers and songs increased the rivalry of the players.

McLeish, by his accurate shooting, and everpresent aggressiveness, was the most active man on the floor. He was heavy scorer, making five of his team's baskets, and also kept up the fighting spirit of the team. Chase was spectacular at times in breaking up the visitors charges, but his unsteadiness at other times, together with Feiring's less effective blocking, made the University defense weak. Tribolet, until taken out for personal fouls, showed the greatest power for the visitors.

Rhode Island scored from the first toss-up, but Fitts and McLeish kept the University in the running, the advantage alternating throughout the game.

The summary follows: HARVARD  R. I. STATE. Fitts, Pallo, Fitts, r.f.  l.g., Chandler McLeish, l.f.  r.g., Dunn Tyson, Doolittle, Fitts, Love, c.  c., Tribolet, Flynn, Helen, Radowitz Feiring, r.g.  l.f., Haslam Chase, l.g.  r.f., Hill
