DR. LOVETT ADDRESSES FRESHMEN

Points Out Presence of Religious Stagnation in Modern Life

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The Reverend Sidney Lovett, pastor of the Mount Vernon Church, Boston, gave his second talk to members of the Freshman class yesterday evening at 7 o'clock in the Smith Halls Common Room. R. P. Bullard '24 led the singing which preceded the address. Dr. Lovett, who took for his text Kipling's poem "The Pioneer", emphasized the fact that the trouble today is that we have dared to stop thinking in our religious life. "There is no hypocrisy," he said, "greater than that of living in an age of material progress and at the same time existing in a religious stagnation."
