CREW PROGRAM TOLD TO 250 AT SMITH HALL

Except for 150-Pound Candidates, Says Dr. Harding--To Have Three Crews Until Spring Recess, Then Two

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

That the long fall rowing season had accustomed the men to the new stroke, so that they are now ready for a successful racing season, was the sentiment expressed by Coach Stevens at the Inaugural crew meeting yesterday afternoon. Over 250 men filled Smith Halls Common Room.

Captain B. McK. Henry '24 conducted the meeting and introduced Coaches Stevens, Brown, Shaw, Haines, Newell and Ware and Dr. Harding. Mr. Stevens gave the plans for the University crews, saying that until the spring recess there would be three University crews, and after the recess only two. The emphasis in coaching all men will be a smooth recovery and a powerful leg-drive throughout the whole pull-though. There will be no jerk at the finish.

Strict training will not start as yet, according to Dr. Harding, except for the 150-pound candidates, who as Coach Newell pointed out, have their races in May, a month earlier than the regatta at New London.
