LIBRARIAN MAKES EXAMPLES OF WIDENER BOOK THIEVES

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

"The thefts of books from the University Library have decreased greatly since we found ourselves forced to report several of the student-thieves to the College Office," declared Mr. W. C. Lane '81 the Librarian to a CRIMSON reporter yesterday.

"For a while," he continued, "we thought that it would be necessary to post watches at the door to intercept the thieves and to prohibit students from carrying satchels or bags in and out of the Library, but these steps were not thought advisable. We did have to suspend several men's Library privileges, however, and by making examples of these thieves we think we have stopped the practice."
