DEBATERS LEND AID TO P.B.H. PROGRAM

Many Affiliated Organizations Seek Entertainers--Debaters Will Speak Within Two Weeks

Through the cooperation of Celian Ufford '19, Instructor in English, and F. C. Packard, Jr. '20, Assistant Professor of Public Speaking, members of the debating team will lend their services to Phillips Brooks House when the occasion demands. By this arrangement, it is expected that both groups will profit. The speakers will gain valuable experience delivering lectures before strange audiences, while Phillips Brooks House will be aided in is outside work. Although the teams have not yet spoken, their first opportunity will probably come within two weeks.

So far this year, Phillips Brooks House has received eight applications from outside organizations for entertainers. Most of these requests have come from Oliurches in the vicinity, while one has come from the South Boston Neighborhood House, and another from Reading, a suburb of Boston. Churches which have made arrangements for entertainment are the Dudley Street Baptist Church, the Old Cambridge Baptist Church, Saint Peter's Church, Saint Ausganius Church, and the First Congregational Church.

The subjects upon which they wish programs are varied in nature. For one church, two magicians offered their services, for others, talks on subjects such as "Topics of the Day", or "Athletics", were requested; while musical entertainments of numerous sorts have been planned. Eleven students have thus far made arrangements to work for P. B. H.
