GOLF TEAM MEETS THREE TEAMS AT NEW HAVEN

Six members of the University golf team left yesterday for New Haven, where the group will, this afternoon, meet three teams in the College Golf League. Today the Crimson team will oppose Pennsylvania; tomorrow it will meet Georgetown in the morning and Princeton in the afternoon.

Last year, Harvard won over Penn in a close match at New Haven, 5 to 4; but it was defeated by both Georgetown and Princeton. Over this week-end the Crimson will be favored to score well, by virtue of its record so far in the present season. The Harvard team, headed by Captain Phillips Finlay '31, has been undefeated in all its matches, and has lost only one-half point, in the opening encounter with Syracuse.

After winning from the Orange, the golfers have easily defeated in succession Wesleyan, 9 to 0; Amherst, 6 to 0; Boston University, 6 to 0; and Holy Cross, 9 to 0. Finlay has made the most consistently low scores turning in several cards below 75. He has been closely followed, however, by W.P. Arnold Jr. '31, C.S. Eaton '32, E.B. Murphy '31, J.B. Baldwin '31, and L.D. Wood '31, the other members of the team to compete on the New Haven links today and tomorrow. All of them have recorded several scores below 80 in the opening matches.

This year's golf team has the best prospects of any previous Harvard team. It is composed of four of last year's regulars, as well as the 1932 Freshman leader, and has, in the matches so far, shown great power. The original squad of 25 was reduced to below 20 in a recent cut; within the next week, another cut will be made.
