MANY VETERANS RETURN FOR WORK THIS SEASON

With prospects bright for another successful season and possibly a seventh consecutive win over the Yale runners, the cross country team will welcomes new candidates this afternoon at 4 o'clock on Soldiers Field, when Coaches Jaakko Mikkola and E.C. Haggerty '27 meet all new prospective hill-and-dalers. The first meet is scheduled for October 3, when the University runners will complete with Holy Cross. After the Yale meet on October 31, the runners will be groomed for the University handicap events on November 7, and for the Intercollegiates at New York on November 17.

Outstanding among the returning runners is N. P. Hallowell '32, who starred on his Freshman team and who last year lead the field in the Yale meet for the sixth straight win over the blue. Other experienced harriers who will be back in the field are J. M. Fox '32, G. N. Barrie '32, J. W. Fobes '32, and E. T. Floathe '32. From last year's Freshman group several promising runners will be available. Arthur Foote '33, captain of the Freshman team that won over Yale by a perfect score. N. P. Dodge '33, who was the outstanding runner of his class, and R. P. Wesley '33, will offer the veteran University harriers stiff competition for berths on the team.

Schedules identical with last year's have been made out, the only change being that this fall the M. I. T. team will also run in the Dartmouth races, both University and Freshman. Following are the two schedules: Friday, October 3, Holy Cross: Friday, October 10, New Hampshire: Friday, October 24, M. I. T. and Dartmouth: Friday, October 31. Yale at New Haven: Friday, November 7, University Handicap: Monday November 17. Intercollegiates at New York: Freshman: Friday, October 10, New Hampshire and Holy Cross: Friday. October 24, M. I. T. and Dartmouth: Friday, October 31. Yale at New Haven: Friday, November 7. University Handicap. The Intercollegiates are being held one week earlier this year than last.
