Former Dartmouth Captain Directs Skiing Department in Store

Dick Bowler, former captain of the Dartmouth skiing team and the man with whom John Carlton did the only double somersault ever performed, will be in charge of the skiing department at Brines.

Somersaulting has always been his specialty, and he has turned over in the air on almost every jump in Eastern United States and Canada. Connected with his life at Dartmouth is an interesting anecdote.

"John Carlton and I received a call from Ottowa," he confided, "begging us to come, in fact demanding that we come. Well, I had a couple of stiff exams ahead, but I yielded and we were off to Canada. The next morning we looked around and saw the whole town placarded with signs heralding the two 'American dare-devils.' That's why they were so insistent."

Mr. Bowler smiled, "So we decided to really show them something. We did the only double somersault that has ever been done. Nevertheless, I still wish I had prepared a little better for those exams. " Mr. Bowler did not divulge the marks he received.
