Morison Comes to Defense of "Yard"; Campus" Heresy

Senior Conneil Requested to Change Name of Sub-Committee

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Stamping out a threatened rise of heresy, Samuel E. Morison '07, professor of History and official Harvard historian, early this week requested the Student Union to change the name of one of its sub-committees from Campus to Yard Questions.

Professor Morison band his action on the precedent that the historic appellation of Yard includes not only the area of the original cow pasture but also all territories within the College.

The Student Union, in changing the name as requested, maintained that the C in Campus was capitalized solely for purposes of the title. They were applying the word to the undergraduate pasture and were making no attempt to undermine Harvards traditional trademark.
