With 28 players remaining on the squad after the first cut last week, Freshman Coach Adolph Samborski has postponed his proposed weekend, pruning until next Tuesday or Wednesday.
The ball-hawks left after this second and probable final cut will comprise the squad which will make the southern trip during the Spring vacation.
As the first game is only a little over a week away, Coach Samborski has been spending much time getting together a strong infield combination. The best group so far, both offensively and defensively seems to be Ulysses Lupien or Bob Gannett at first, Art Johns, 2nd base, Dick Grondahl, shortstop, and Fred Heckel at the hot corner. This aggregation has plenty of talent and tosses the ball around like veterans, while at bat any one of this group is capable of giving the horsehide a real ride.
So far among the outfielders little outstanding material has been discovered, but Samborski is waiting until the squad gets outdoors sometime next week before going to work on them.
