Jayvees Down Stubborn Northeastern '43 Squad 13-6, in Close Contest

Hoar, Squibb Go Over for Scores; Tine Makes Long Gains

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Two first half touchdown marches coupled with stubborn defensive work brought victory, 13 to 6, for Coach Henry Lamar's spirited Jayvee eleven in a game with the Northeastern Freshmen yesterday afternoon on Soldiers Field.

All the scoring came in the first half, and after the intermission the game developed into a punting duel with neither team penetrating beyond the enemy twenty-five yard line.

Jayvees Score

With six minutes gone in the first quarter, the Lamarmen racked up the first tally on an off-tackle smash by "Squibby" Squibb from the seven yard line. A sixteen yard run by Mel Gordon brought the ball into scoring position. Feary's kick for the point was good.

Led by Hal Tine, stocky halfback, who reeled off a series of long gains, the Crimson squad scored again in the second quarter when veteran Sherm Hoar went over from the one yard line. Ted Lyman's kick was blocked.
