LOWELL BOWS TO ADAMS 12-0

House football competition get off to a flying start yesterday afternoon when the Mt. Auburn St. Gold Coasters romped over Lowell 12 to 0, while Eliot was battling favored Dudley to a 0 to 0 tie.

The dust from the opening kick-off had hardly settled, when Bob James completed a long pass to Bob Hurley for a score and Adams was out in front 6 to 0. After battling for over a period the Gold Coasters once again reached pay dirt.

Kuhn Runs 40 Yards

George "Kubla" Kuhn, flashy right end, grabbed a shaky pass to the flat and raced forty yards to the Lowell 15 before a fleet Bellboy brought him to earth. Several plays later Tom Lacy plunged over for the touchdown from the one-yard stripe.

With a turnout of 27, the largest in five years, the Merrimen matched the Commuters play for play and walked off the field well satisfied with the showing they had made. Neither team came near scoring but it wasn't the fault of Johnny Santosuosso, Dudley back, or Demmy Lloyd, Eliot ball carrier, who made consistent gains back and forth in midfield. Eliot shows promise of a good team if its offensive can be smoothed out.

Tomorrow afternoon the Winthrop House Puritans, last year's champions, will be out to defend their title against Leverett House with a team depleted by graduation. Dunster will also tackle Kirkland in the opening contest for both teams.
