House Squads Divide 4 Contests With Yale

Four House teams traveled to New Haven over the weekend and broke even in contests with the Yale College champions. Lowell's eagers defeated Calhoun College, 53 to 41, while the runner-up Adams five dropped a decision to Saybrook, 48 to 36. Kirkland sent its swimmers against the Silliman natators, and barely eked out a 29 to 28 victory, while the Dean squad squad was whitewashed by a superior Silliman team, 5 to 0.

The Bellboys climaxed a great season with their triumph Saturday. Deadlocked in a 20-20 draw at half-time, the Lowell aggregation, sparked by Dick Sorlien and Captain Bill Murphy, pulled away to their final advantage. The Adams quintet met much the same type of strategy from a Saybrook five which came to life in the second-half and gave the Gold-Coasters a thorough drubbing.

The Kirkland-Silliman swimming meet looked like an easy Deacon win until the last two events, when Blue victories in the 100-yard backstroke and medley relay events brought the Yale squad to within a point of the victors. Mike Brody's win in the 100-yard breaststroke was the best time of the evening. Brody covered the course in the Payne Whitney Pool in a good 1 mn.
