Informal Nine Is Planned for Summer Term

Intramural Softball & Baseball, Swimming, Seulling, Tennis Highlight Athletic Program

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Formal athletics here will come to a complete standstill this summer, but there will be plenty of opportunities for undergraduates to keep in trim for the fall, or just get out in the sunshine and enjoy themselves, the H.A.A. has announced.

Director Bill Bingham and his assistants have organized a full program of sports which includes intramural softball and baseball, tennis, rowing, volley ball, and swimming. In addition, depending on the demand, an informal "all-star" nine will be hand-picked by intramural director Dolph Samborski from the various House teams. This squad will take on whatever local collegiate competition is available.

Even Calisthenics Scheduled

Most of the University's athletic facilities will be open five days a week all summer. Tennis courts, behind the Business School, have been readied for use from 11 to 5 o'clock. The pool will be open for business at 11:15, 12:15, 2 and 3 o'clock. Upstairs a few flights in the Indoor Building, there will be push-ups at 12:15 o'clock for those who want to work off excess baggage.

Singles will be available at Weld Boat House daily from 10 to 5 o'clock, but only men with previous sculling experience will be allowed to take out singles for the first week or so. Novices will have to practice on the huge, galley-like Leviathan before they get the green light for solo paddling on the Charles.

Thrice-weekly exercise this summer is compulsory for Freshmen, optional for upperclassmen.
