Players Regret Harlow Resignation

Reached this afternoon for comment on the Harlow resignation, past and present members of Crimson football teams expressed surprise and sympathy over the sudden announcement. "It must be a tough blow to Dick to have to resign because of his health," said 1947 Captain Vince Movavec. "He so liked coaching. I'm sure that the whole team wishes him the best of luck in the future."

Captain-elect Kenny O'Donnell echoed Moravee's reaction. "I'm sorry to hear that Dick Harlow's health is worse. I'd like to join with Vince in wishing him all the best of luck."

From the gold Coast Valeteria came the following statement by Benny Jacobson: "I never met a guy with more guts than Dick. He was a real square-shooter."

Across the river, Colonel Dave Egan, hard-hitting Boston sports columnist claimed that "Harlow resigned only partially because of ill health--he resigned in greater part because he disagreed completely with the athletic policis of Bill Bingham."

Egan had plannd a forthcoming article entitled, "Has Harvard Hallowed Harlow? He has been a longtime advocate for a New Deal in New England collegiate football. "Dartmouth, Yale, Princeton and Pennsylvania are all getting good material," Egan said. "There is no reason why Harvard shouldn't"

Last year's front bulwark, Eddle Davis, commented that Harlow was one of the best playmakers in the game--"a great Tactician." Other members of the 1947 team agreed on this point.
