Two hundred and fifty supporters of William O. Douglas last night opened their campaign to put the Supreme Court Justice in the White House. Three speakers appeared on the New Lecture Hall platform and identified Douglas as the "one man" for next November.
Mortimer Hays, chairman of the Connecticut chapter of the A.D.A., keynoted the meeting.
Other speakers at the rally were John L. Saltonstall '38, Boston attorney, who characterized Douglas as a "tough-minded progressive," and John R. Everett, professor of Philosophy at Wesleyan University, who predicted a Republican victory in November unless Justice Douglas secures the Democratic nomination.
