University Hall remained silent yesterday about who might succeed Dean Bender when he leaves his office next fall.
The CRIMSON announced in an exclusive story yesterday that the Dean would move to the Admissions Office to replace Richard M. Gummere, Chairman of the Committee on Admissions. Gummere intends to retire from the post he has hold since 1925.
Whoever becomes the next Dean will probably be a figure already familiar with the College. Administrators who are eligible for the post by reason of experience and ago are: Associate Dean Robert B. Watson, F. Skiddy von Stade, Jr. '28, Director of Scholarships, and John U. Monro '34, Director of Financial Aid.
Bender became Dean in 1946, after having worked as University Counselor for Veterans. He replaced A. Chester Hanford, professor of Government.
