Colonel Charles P. Summerall, Jr. professor of Military Science and Tactics, will issue a directive today indicating whether or not the Army Reserve Officers Training Corps will make its facilities available to still more second term freshmen.
An informal committee composed of Dean Bender, Dean Leighton, Associate Dean Watson, Jarvis R. Kingston, professor of Air Science and Tactics, and Summerall met yesterday to discuss the possibility of expanding the R.O.T.C. program here.
It is understood that at the meeting the University Administration supported a Student Council request for expanding the R.O.T.C.'s enrollment at the University. When contacted at his home last night, Summerall did not deny a report that 50 more R.O.T.C. posts would become available in addition to the 50 openings announced Monday. He merely stated that he would make public his decision sometime today.
