Bruins Run Over Varsity Sextet, 5-1

Revised Lines Fail to Function as White Scores Lone Goal

By James M. Storey

Brown's championship sextet registered its fifteenth victory of the season and second in a row over Cooney Weiland's revised hockey team, 5 to 1, last night at the Arena. In a rough, dirty game marked by 19 penalties, the Bruins dominated the play with their gang-rush style, keeping the puck in the Harvard zone most of the time.

Weiland had former defenseman Dusty Burke skating wing for Bill Timpson and Nat Harris, and moved Captain Low Preston to third line wing with Walt Greeley and Amory Hubbard, putting Bob DiBlasio in Preston's usual first line slot. These shakeups didn't work, for the Crimson never could quite break loose with accurate passing and seemed to hang back at the Bruin blue line.

Leading scorer Don Sennott sneaked the puck around from the back of the cage to tally the first Brown goal in the opening period, and the Bruins added two more in the second frame, and one in the third before Johnny White slapped in a 20-foot rebound from DiBlasio on an assist from Marshall. Al Gubbins added the last Brown goal four minutes later. The Bruins scored twice with Harvard a man down.

Hubbard, Greeley, and Preston formed the only Crimson line which consistently kept the pressure on, but their efforts were not enough to stop a faster, rougher Bruin team.
