In a straw vote held at Radcliffe's Cedar Hill Conference in Cabot Hall last night, 39 members voted to keep the Radcliffe News's compulsory subscription dues in full, with only two delegates opposing the recommendation.
In answer to a recommendation that the News' compulsory dues be cut from $1.50 to $1.00 as a step toward complete independence. Honey Goodell '54, managing editor of the News stated that continuing the quality of the paper at that reduced rate would be impossible. "We don't want compulsory dues," Miss Goodell said. "We have to have them."
Dormitory and student council officers present at the conference also recommended that a vote of confidence" be taken concerning the freshman register.
