Crimson 9 Plays Amherst Following Springfield Rest

AMHERST, April 25--A disappointed varsity baseball team checked in here tonight after travelling from Sprinfigeld, where a heavy rainstorm and wet grounds had forced cancellation of today's scheduled game at Springfield College.

Coach Stuffy McInnis' Crimson nine will play Amherst at 2:30 p.m. tomorrow, provided that groundskeepers can get Pratt Field's playing surface in shape after the all-day downpour.

Today's postponement was probably a good thing for the Crimson. The two weekend games would have been the varsity's fourth and fifth in eight days, and McInnis has been worried about the adverse effects of a heavy opening schedule.

Harvard, McInnis feels, needs the extra day of rest, as it must face Amherst's Willie Wilson tomorrow.

The blond southpaw, one of the most effective left-handers in the East, will be a rough opponent. Rihty Jack Donelan will start for the Crimson tomorrow.
