The Crimson eleven finished fourth in the final Ivy League standings as Cornell yesterday beat a winless Pennsylvania and tied Yale for the football championship. The varsity soccer team also ended a successful season in fifth place out of the 18 teams in the New England Intercollegiate Soccer League.

Cornell's 20 to 6 victory over the Quakers enabled the Big Red to retain its Ivy championship and was its fifth straight win after having dropped its opening four games. Four Yale, whose 4-2-0 record tied Cornell's, it was the Blue's first League title since 1946 and its 26th since the League started in 1872.

Brown Third

Brown, which beat Colgate, 18 to 14, in a non-League game yesterday, finished third in the standings. The Crimson slipped from second place last year to fourth, but its 3-2-1 record included defeats of co-champions Cornell and Yale and a tie with runner-up Brown.

In spite of a disappointing shut-out by Yale, 1 to 0, the varsity soccer team closed its League season with seven wins in ten games, its best record since 1948.

Marv Weiss, with nine goals, and Grey Hodnet, with seven, led the team's powerful attack, which outscored Crimson opponents, 28 to 14. In the nets, Lindsay Fischer kept rival teams to less than two goals a game. This combination of goal tending and scoring accounted for the team's seven victories, exceeding the total wins of any of the four teams above it in the standings.
