Hockey Team Seeks First League Win Against Dartmouth Tomorrow

Dartmoth goalie Gordon Russell may be the only obstacle between the varsity hockey team and its first Pentagonal League win tomorrow night at Hanover. If the senior netminder is in form, a comparatively weak and inexperienced Indian sextet could pull an upset, encouraged by the usual highly-partisan Dartmouth crowd.

In three games last year, the varsity had an easy time shutting out the Green 4 to 0, here but had a 1-1 record at Hanover. This year's Dartmouth team, relying heavily on Russell, may end up as the doormat of the league. Princeton's none too potent six defeated the Indians recently, 3 to 2.

Still smarting from Tuesday's unexpected tie with spirited Brown, the varsity will be anxious to gain the first leg in its bid to capture the Pentagonal crown for the second straight year, and perhaps to impress Dartmouth coach Eddie Jeremiah. Jeremiah is a member of the board that will select the Eastern representatives to the NCAA Championship tourney in Colorado this spring.

Coach Cooney Weiland will use the same lineup the played against Brown. First line wing Torry O'Malley, recipient of a broken nose from a Bruin stick, is expected to be ready for action. Joe Crehore, who has scored three goals in the last two games, will probably alternate again with Dough Manchester on the first line, thus freeing him for spot duty at defense.

The Crimson's second line will start Frank Mahoney at center with Captain Scott Cooledge and Ned Bliss on the wings.

The undefeated Yardlings face their stiffest test to date with the Boston College freshmen at 4:30 this afternoon on the Watson rink, and play Belmont Hill at the same time tomorrow in the Lynn Arens.

Holy Cross will send its varsity against the jayvees at 7:30 on the Watson rink. The Crimson Jayvees defeated M.I.T., 12 to 3, in their first game, on Monday.
