Brown Will Increase Tuition Fee to $850

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Brown University fees go up to $850 per year, beginning next September, an increase of $150 over the present amount. The "general fee" of $100 a year in addition remains in effect.

Dr. Henry M. Wriston, Brown president, said that most of the extra money raised will be used to increase faculty salaries, which Wriston said "certainly ought to reflect the prosperity the rest of America enjoys."

Announcement of the new tuition fee at Brown came only a week after the Princeton fee went up $150 to equal the $1000 a year Yale has also charged since last November.
