Eliot Upsets Dudley for First Win; Adams Defeats Dunster in Soccer

Alton Steiner scored three touchdowns to lead Eliot House to a 19-0 upset victory over Dudley yesterday. It was the Elephants' first win of the season and moved them into a seventh place tie with Lowell.

Steiner scampered loose on a ten yard run early in the first quarter to put Eliot ahead. The score remained 6-0 until the second half, when Steiner again burst free on a fifty yard jaunt in the third quarter and on a 60 yard sprint in the fourth period.

Dudley threatened several times by penetrating inside Eliot's twenty yard line, but never managed to score. The Elephant defense held firm on their eight to withstand Dudley's deepest effort.

The whole Eliot backfield was running well through the center of the weak Dudley line. Chuck Papalia was the one bright spot in the Dudley defense as he scored about seventy per cent of the Commuters' tackles.

Eliot's offense was limited almost entirely to the ground. They attempted only one pass, which was incomplete. Dudley had an effective aerial attack until Eliot's defenders began to smother the Commuters' ends.

The game was extremely clean, with only one major penalty registered. Eliot is now looking forward to its last game.

In House soccer yesterday, Adams pulled to within one point of second place by squeaking past Dunster 1-0. The Gold Coasters consistently outplayed the Funsters, with Charlie Taylor scoring the game's only goal. In the other game, Leverett won a default over Dudley 7-0.
