Chisox Trade Minoso for Wynn

By The ASSOCIATED Press

The Chicago White Sox pulled off their second major trade in less than 24 hours yesterday, swapping Minnie Minoso, their righthanded power hitter, and infielder Fred Hatfield to the Cleveland Indians for pitcher Early Wynn and outfielder Al Smith. Yesterday the Chisox sent Larry Doby and Jack Harshman to Baltimore in return for Billy Goodman, Tito Francona and Ray Moore.

The Boston Celtics rolled to their seventeeth victory in nineteen starts last last night, as they downed the lowly Minneapolis Lakers, 108 to 98. The N.B.A. champs secured the win on a fourth period scoring spurt by Bob Cousy that put them out of the reach of the Lakers. Sharman topped Boston scoring with 21 points.

Joe Brown made his third successful defense of the world lightweight title last night by stopping challenger Joey Lopez in the 13th round of their Chicago Stadium bout.

Brown was awarded a technical knock-out over Lopez after dropping him to the canvas in the 11th round and finally pounding him into a daze in the 13th.
