'Cliffe Archives Given Beecher-Stowe Gift

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The Radcliffe Women's Archives recently received a gift of original correspondence and books from the writings of Harriet Beecher Stowe, author of Uncle Tom's Cabin. All of Mrs. Stowe's writings, numerous translations of her famous book, and many unpublished letters are included in the collection.

In addition to the material concerning Mrs. Stowe herself, there is a volume of similar matter relating to the Stowe and Beecher famlies. Because of the value of the gift, Mrs. Richard Borden, Director of the Archives, stated that should funds become available, the Archives would like to create a Beecher-Stowe Memorial Room.

The Women's Archives is a special library of documents dealing with women's contributions to American history.
