Crimson Wallops Green Six, 10-4

By Robert P. Marshall jr.

Harvard breezed to its fourth Ivy League hockey victory against two defeats with an expected 10-4 rout of Dartmouth at Watson Rink Saturday night. The Crimson outshot the Green, 62-22, and eight different Harvard players scored during the mismatch.

Harvard held only a 4-2 lead after, the first period, on goals by defensemen Don Grimble, Tom Micheletti, and Bob Carr, and sophomore wing Barry Johnson. Indian goaltender Warren Cook was hard pressed to keep matters even that close, turning aside 22 shots. Over the same 20 minutes, Crimson goalie Bill Fitzsimmons was credited with but 2 saves.

Second-period goals by Johnson, Micheletti, and Pete Mueller widened the margin to 7-2 before Dartmouth's Bob Cann registered with 12 seconds to play.

This pattern was repeated in the third period. Dwight Ware, Bob Fredo, and Bobby Bauer raised Harvard's total to 10, the Crimson's high for the season, before the Green's fourth goal in the final minute of play.

Parrot Has 3 Assists

Kent Parrot boosted his scoring lead with three assists, while the line of Ben Smith, Bauer, and Ware recorded two assists each.

In the Ivy League's big game Saturday, Cornell defeated Brown, 4-2, to raise its record to 6-1. The last major obstacle to the Big Red's defense of its championship is Wednesday night's game with Harvard at Watson Rink.
