To the Editors of the CRIMSON:

As members of the Harvard Republican Club, we wish to clearly disassociate ourselves from Mr. Laszlo Pasztor and his ad hoc Students for a Just Peace. In his statements concerning the Counter Teach-In, Mr. Pasztor implied a connection between the Republican Club and the S.J.P., and, whether intentionally or not, has contributed to many people's association of the Republican Club with the Young Americans for Freedom. No such identification should be made, since many Republicans find both Mr. Pasztor's views and his tactics repugnant.

The conduct of the Counter Teach-In exemplifies a dangerous irresponsibility. The proceedings were designed in a confrontation atmosphere, and the conduct of Mr. Teodoru on the platform seemed intended to contribute to the turmoil. It is indeed fortunate that no one was injured, for such would have been the pinnacle of the S.J.P.'s political theatrics. We find such irrresponsibility totally reprehensible.

The fact that the protestors were stupid enough to fall into the trap does not excuse their guilt. Such atrocities must not be allowed at a free university. The administration should take all appropriate disciplinary action against those who disrupted the program. When a university lacks the courage to protect all expression of thought, it forfeits its reason for existence.
