First Quarter: Penn scored on its first possession when QB Tom Roland ran 18 yards unmolested down the left side at 10:41. Key play was a 29-yd. Roland run (7-play, 70-yd. drive, Dwyer PAT made it 7-0).

Penn then forced Harvard to punt and scored on its second possession, with halfback Ron Gray taking a pitch to the right for a TD at 8:11. Key play was 31-yd Roland run. (3-play, 44-yd. drive, Dwyer PAT wide left).

Harvard got on the board at 2:59 on a Larry Brown 1-yd. sneak. Key plays: third-down Brown-to-Paul Sablock 18-yd. pass, 30-yd. run of right tackle by Ralph Polillio. (6-play, 53-yd. drive, Bosnic PAT made it 13-7 Penn).

Second Quarter: Both offenses stagnated until 8:14 when Harvard QB Brown hit split end John MacLeod for a 15-yd. TD pass. Key play was 15-yd. pass from Brown to Polillio over the middle, followed by 15-yd. piling on penalty. (8-play, 75-yd. drive, Bosnic PAT put Harvard ahead, 14-13).

Gary Bosnic had a 30-yd. FG attempt blocked by Penn's Kevin Weir at 2:57. Key plays setting up the attempt had been a 34-yd. Rich Horner punt return and an 11-yd. Brown keeper.

Penn halfback Gray fumbled a pitch with 12 seconds left in the half at the Penn 14, and Terry Trusty fell on it at the 7-yd. line. Bosnic kicked a 24-yd. FG one play later, putting Harvard up 17-13 at half-time.

Third Quarter: Penn drives of 7, 8 and 9 plays were all stopped in Harvard territory, while Harvard ran off just seven plays and managed no first downs (Larry Brown fumbled with 2:00 left).

Fourth Quarter: Harvard's offense never got the ball in Penn territory while the Harvard defense stopped Penn drives of 5, 9 and 17 plays, two on fourth-down attempts, the third on second-and-goal as time ran out.
