Faces to Watch

Greg Britz, So., Palos Verdes, Calif.--Forward

Britz tallied eight goals, five assists in his debut season while playing in all 26 games. He came on strong late in the season, and Cleary says, "Greg is a top skater, and the most improved player on the team during the course of last year."

Dave Burke, Jr., Norwood--Forward

Burke exploded for 16 goals, 14 assists his freshman year, but tailed off to 8-17-25 last season. He is a power-play mainstay. Cleary says, "We've moved David from center to right wing and it seems to be working out because he's more at home."

Rob Burns, So., So. Edmonton, Alberta--Forward

Burns sports a whole new look after adding muscle over the summer. He recorded four goals, 10 assists in his inaugural campaign including one of each in the 4-3 Beanpot loss to B.C. "Burnsie moved in to play with Britz on one of our most productive lines last year."

Mark Fusco, So., Burlington--Defense

Fusco garnered ECAC rookie of the year and first-team All-Ivy honors in his rookie season while leading Harvard in scoring with 29 points. Cleary enthuses, "Mark will continue to be one of the key figures in our team's success."

Wade Lau, Jr., St. Paul, Minn.--Goaltender

Lau compiled a 4.63 average in 20 games in the Crimson nets last year. A two-year starter, he earned ECAC and Ivy weckly honors for a 58-save, two-game stretch in midseason. "Wade may be the key to our success. I think he'll have a big year this year."

Tom Murray, Sr., Natick--Forward, TEAM CAPTAIN

A three-year starter who tallied eight goals and five assists last season for best numbers ever. Players and coaches alike rave over his leadership and effort. Murray is "a great team leader and a good two-way player," according to Cleary."

Greg Olson, So., Minnetonka, Minn.--Forward

His 16 goals led the squad last year. Olson picked up the team's only hat trick in the 6-6 tie against Yale, and scored twice in a game three other times. Small, but fast, tought and willing to dig, Cleary says, "Hopefully his scoring touch will rub off on others."

Scott Sangster, So., Sherwood Pk, Alberta--Defense

Sangster played solid defense in 20 games in '79-'80. One of two letterwinners returning on defense, he's a small but tough and efficient blueliner. Cleary comments, "Scotty is a strong defensive defenseman who has improved his skills with the puck."

Neil Sheehy, So., International Falls, Minn.--Defense

Sheehy will move back to defense after 13 games up front for the icemen a year ago. His 6-ft., 1-in., 205 size will help shore up the blue line, as will fine stickhandling skills. Cleary: "The decision to move Neil back has worked out quite well."

Jim Turner, So., Melrose--Forward

Turner played like a veteran during his rookie campaign last year. His 7-16-23 numbers earned him fourth place among Harvard scorers, and he is an excellent skater and passer. Cleary says, "Jimmy is a good, solid, two-way hockey player who excels in penalty killing."

Mike Watson, Jr., Brunswick, Me.--Forward

Watson has racked up 25 goals, 48 points in two seasons in Cambridge. He tailed off to 9-13-22 last year, but hopes to bounce back from sophomore jinx. "Michael will hopefully regain his scoring touch from his freshman year."
